1-Bernard Thomas, 1938 at Old Camp Cherokee in Wentworth.  Bernard was the son of Mr. J.O. Thomas who was personnel manager at Marshall Field & Co and later Fieldcrest Mills.

2-Bill Pittendreigh, 1st Class Scout member of Troop 8. Nantucket Mill is in the background.  My grandparents, the Pittendreigh’s ran a boarding house in Spray.  Bill was my uncle.

3-Troop 8, BSA, Sponsored by the Leaksville Methodist Church . This picture was made in 1951 at Camp Cherokee in Wentworth.

4-Bruce Carter owned and operated Carter Electric Company located behind Ted’s Cab on Bridge Street .  Bruce joined the Scout Movement in 1910.  He was the first Camp Director of Camp Cherokee in 1923.  Camp Cherokee was operated at Guerrant Springs near Ruffin before they moved to Wentworth. Bruce was Commissioner of Scouts in Leaksville District. He had 50 years of service to Boy Scouts when he died in 1961.

5-Charles K. Martin was Leaksville’s 1st Eagle Scout.  Charles received his Eagle Award in a ceremony at Spray Park May 24, 1929.
