SALE OF PIG BRINGS $93 FOR METHODIST CHURCH
November 24-30, 1924

A small pig with a curl in its tail and a ring in its nose was sold in Madison for the astounding price of $93, the highest price paid for potential pork chops in the western Rockingham town since the Red Cross sold a porker during the war for $200.

Actually, the new owner of the pig, Jake Moore, spent only 50 cents for him. Moore held the winning lottery ticket sold to him by two members of the Madison Methodist church.

The pig was given to the church by Mrs. R. Lee Ellis, and she and Mrs. J.O. Busick then sold enough chances on him to raise $93.

The money will be applied to an $800 debt the church is endeavoring to cancel.
