Wade Darnell Hamlin, 23, of Durham, one of two men charged with the armed robbery of a Leaksville Bank and Trust Company branch in April, told the FBI he pretty much squandered his $15,000-plus share of the loot in less than a month of traveling up and down the East Coast.

"I had a good time while it lasted," he was quoted as saying.

The two gunmen took $50,000 in the daring noontime raid of the bank's Boulevard branch. Hamlin's confederate, Woodrow Wilson James of Sandy Ridge, was arrested earlier in the week.

Three other men have been charged with conspiracy in the robbery and two others with accessory.
