The following poem appeared in The Leaksville News on Saturday January 30th 1923:

In Leaksville

We used to have a quiet place
In Leaksville,
Far from Mammons' whirling race
In Leaksville.
The cows would graze upon the street
You'd speak to every one you'd meet
And gather 'round the amen seat
In Leaksville.

But progress now has hit us hard
In Leaksville,
It's gasoline instead of lard
In Leaksville.
Where Billy Barnes once gave a shave
Now Betty gives a marcel wave
And vamps and sheiks will not behave
In Leaksville.

Oh, for the joys of other days
In Leaksville,
When neighbors went their friendly ways
In Leaksville.
Before the lipstick hit the town,
Before a dress became a gown,
Before our castles tumbled down,
In Leaksville.
