I grew up in Leaksville, and so did my parents (Martha Mangum and the late Tommy Kirkpatrick).
I'm lucky to still have friends and some family there. My brothers (Tim and Mike) and sister (Alice) moved away after school, as did I.
I've been in Dallas for most of the past 25 years.

I was just taking a look around the website and found your guestbook. I was married into the Wood family of Eden ... to do with Railroad Cafe as Homer Wood is my sons great uncle. I come up every year or two to visit my son and stay at the Jameson Inn. Wonderful site!
You have done an excellent job in trying to preserve some of our rich past. I really enjoyed the old police photo's by Ronnie Hooker and Herman Searcy. I also enjoyed the old photo's which give us a glimspe of how people lived, and looked in the past.
I feel by looking back to our past we may be able to appreciate the success of our modern day way of life.

Hi! My grandfather, John Walter Williams was born in this co. (1873) father, John Williams according to a death certificate. He had a sister named Mary and a little brother who died (abt.2) falling off the headboard of a bed. I may go mad trying to find out his father's name for sure. Maybe someone named Williams can help me. They might have moved. There is no John Williams with a young John in the 1880 census. Thanks for letting me share. I have not been to Rockingham NC but it looks like a beautiful place. Jane.

enjoyed all the photo's of things there and to see how it has grown. my grandfather james s. boyd worked in the mills till he retired as well as my grandmother frances beck boyd, i have heard papa tell me stories about spray and all and my dads father lived there also fred h. price as the old home place is still there on morgan st.and i visit it often my aunt and uncle still live

I was born in Leaksville in 1946- my father (now decesed) was George Sexton we lived in Spray and Draper until about 1954. My uncle was Leroy Sexton who lived in Eden until his death.

I have enjoyed this page so much. I hope I may add something to it later.I Graduated here in 1966. I stayed here married a girl from the Carolina Heights area. Raised a Family here and served the Community here for 30 years. I retired from the local Police Department in 2002. My family lived in Rockingham County and Leaksville for many generations. My dad, Herbert Pratt, left to pursue his career around 1952.
